The Grand Central building on Cashel Street in Christchurch city is home to over 500 public service workers and several retail outlets.
Trademark Paving was contracted to install cobblestone paving on Cashel Street and Tattersalls Lane, and large format paving on the 5th-floor balcony.
This project was particularly interesting as the base of the building is set in seismic resistant trays and the paving had to align with each tray to keep a uniform pattern throughout.
On the 5th floor balcony, we laid 1200 x 600 x 50mm granite pavers (approx. 120kgs each) on suspended pedestals. Our crew on this project undertook full harness-training work to be compliant working at this height.
